What is On Aisle 9?

For our family, Aisle 9 is the “very” public place that our special needs child chose to have a monumental meltdown! The stares, under breath remarks and sighs of disapproval made an already tense situation even more difficult to deal with.

That “Aisle 9” moment gave birth to this website. Our mission is to enlighten those who want to be enlightened about the dynamics of raising a child with special needs. Just because a child throws a tantrum and shows out in public, it doesn’t necessarily mean that there is a behavioral problem, or that, “bad parenting” is the issue.

This site is also designed to be a support group for other parents looking for ways to help their children with special needs transition and flow in the mainstream. Please feel free to share your experiences with us.

My dear James family — I wanted you to know how very proud I am to know you and how grateful I am to be a part of your journey as individuals, as parents, and as a family in private and now in public.
You have already travelled so far, yet we know there are so many more aisles in this store, and so many more stores to visit. Continue to enjoy and cherish each other on this great adventure!
    Shelli
